Workshop Aims and Objectives

This workshop aims at bringing together researchers and practitioners for exchanging results and experiences related to applied software processes with special focus on lightweight software process models. For these models more and more experience from their application becomes available, such that a critical reflection of their success factors and weaknesses allows the assessment of their actual impact, relevance and also to identify further research questions.

The workshop is associated with the 9th International Conference on New Software Methodologies, Tools, and Techniques, (SoMeT_10) and will take place on September 28, 2010, in Yokohama, Japan, at Mielparque-Yokohama Hotel.

This event is a continuation of an existing series of SoMeT. This conference series highlights and reflects the state-of-art and new trends on software methodologies, tools and techniques.
You are invited to participate in SoMeT_10 to help build a forum for exchanging ideas and experiences to foster new directions in software development methodologies and related tools and techniques. The conference is focused on exploring innovations, controversies, and challenges facing the Software Engineering community today. The conference brings together theory and experience to propose and evaluate solutions to Software Engineering problems. The conference also provides a forum and an opportunity to assess the current state-of-the-art in Software Engineering and to chart further research directions.

We seek three types of papers: Research papers. Industry papers, and Position papers. Research papers should describe innovative and significant work in lightweight software process improvement, which is relevant to the software industry. Industry experience papers should describe practical experiences related to lightweight software process improvement with relevance to other practitioners. Position papers should describe new ideas or address the pros and cons of specific proposals.

The workshop topics include but are not limited to the following topics:

• Best practices for lightweight software processes
• Organizational and business views on process improvement
• Value-based software engineering
• Software process improvement and process standards
• Process modelling, composition, and enactment
• Quantitative models for development processes and products
• Global software engineering
• Open source software and software quality
• Reuse of software and software product lines
• Quality assurance, inspections, testing
• Software evolution
• Innovative approaches to software development
• Empirical studies and experimental approaches

All papers will be peer-reviewed under the supervision of an international technical program committee for quality, presentation and relevance to the conference.

The proceedings of the workshop will be included in the conference proceedings of SoMeT_10 and be published as a book by IOS international publisher in series: Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence and Applications, and distributed at the workshop.

Submission Details

In general the acceptance will be based on the originality of work, on the suitability of the topic to the workshop, and on the overall quality of your submission. Papers can be submitted through the URL: https://cmt.research.microsoft.com/NFSE2010/

The new paper submission deadline is: 12 May 2010.

The acceptance letters with reviewing comments would be sent by: 20 May 2010. In the case of acceptance, please, send your Camera-Ready copy according to IOS format should be up to 10 pages. The final Camera-Ready copy, for inclusion in the IOS book series (Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence and Applications) to arrive no later than: 10 June 2010.
